Presidency election among three candidates
Kathmandu October 27- UML Vice Chairperson Bidhya Bhandari has filed her candidacy for the presidential election in Legislature Parliament on Tuesday. UCPN (Maoist) Chairman Pushpa Kamal Dahal proposed Bhandari’s name for the election while nine persons, including Rastriya Prajatantra Party-Nepal Chairman Kamal Thapa and Madhesi Janadhikar Forum-Loktantrik Chairman Bijay Kumar Gachhadar, seconded it.
Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli, UCPN (Maoist) Chairman Dahal and leaders of UML’s coalition partners had reached the parliament to register the candidacy. A UML standing committee meeting on Monday decided to pick Bhandari as its candidate for the president’s post.
The election to select country’s new president will be held on Wednesday.
NC’s Gurung also files candidacy
Nepali Congress President’s candidate Kul Bahadur Gurung has also filed his candidacy at the Legislature Parliament today. Gurung’s name was commissioned by NC’s central committee meeting on Tuesday.
NWPP's Maharjan files for presidency
Nepal Workers Peasants Party (NWPP) has picked Narayan Maharjan to contest in the Wednesday’s president’s election. Maharjan is a central member of the party.
