Nepali team went Beijing to finalize agreement on supply of petroleum products

Kathmandu, October 26- A team from Nepal Oil Corporation leave for China today to make agreement on long term supply of petroleum products from China. Though China has agreed to grant petrol to minimize the shortage, government representatives went China to hold talks on finalizing long term supply agreement. Sources said that Nepal has requested China to supply 40% of its total consumption of fuel.

Ministry of foreign affairs had earlier sent official letter requesting supply of fuel to Nepal. A Nepali delegation led by Nepali Ambassador to China Mahesh Maskey, comprising secretary of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs Vabindra Aryal, secretary of Ministry of Commerce and Supplies Sambhu Ghimire, official of Ministry of Finance Madhu Marasini and deputy director of Nepal Oil Corporation Sushil Bhattarai has left for Beijing to seal the government to government (G2G) level deal.

 The government team to China to discuss purchasing fuel for regular and long-term trade. After the agreement finalize, the monopoly market of Indian Oil Corporation will come to an end and Nepal will import petroleum products from china. NOC will no longer need to be dependent on Indian Oil Corporation for purchase of fuel after the petroleum purchase deal is finalized with China.

Meanwhile, the 1,000 metric tonnes of petrol, being granted by China, will arrive at the Rasuwagadhi border point, by Wednesday.
