All members resign in National Planning Commission

Kathmandu October 26-National Planning Commission (NPC) Vice-Chairman Govinda Pokharel and all members of the Commission resigned on Sunday.They submitted the resignation letter to NPC Chairman and Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli this morning.

 

Besides Pokharel, the Commission had seven members, namely: Govinda Nepal, Yagya Bahadur Karki, Chandra Mani Adhikari, Bhartendu Mishra, Prem Prasad Dangal, Swarnim Wagle and Bimalaya Rai Paudyal.

 

Pokharel had called on the Prime Minister on Monday and informed about his team’s resignation. Pokharel along with other three members of the NPC, who were appointed under Nepali Congress quota, had decided to resign from their respective posts after the change of government. Vice Chairman Pokharel, members Swornim Wagle, Bharatendu Mishra and Yagya Bahadur Karki were appointed at the NPC during the Sushil Koirala-led government.

 

Likewise, NPC members Govinda Nepal, Chandra Mani Adhikari, Prem Dangal and Bimala Rai were appointed on CPN-UML quota. As per the regular proceedings, NPC members resign after a change in government.

 

The new Prime Minister Chairs the Commission and preferably appoints a Vice Chairman close to him and the party.
