Manage your split ends

It doesn't matter whether you have long or short hair, everyone suffers from split ends.

And while getting a trim every couple of weeks might not be possible for everyone, what you can do is take good care of your hair and use some effective home remedies that will help you get rid of split ends. Remember, that your hair has to deal with stress, pollution, harsh water and chemical treatments throughout its life, which is why split ends are inevitable.

Hair experts reckon that split ends occur because the hair shaft starts chafing thanks to excessive dryness and overusing chemical products. Add the summer heat and pollution to this mix and you've got yourself staring at split ends. If you regularly suffer from this problem, it is time to go easy on he styling products and chemical treatments. Allow your hair to 'breathe naturally' for a while. Stop washing your hair daily and pay attention to the comb and hair brush that you use. Make oiling a regular part of your beauty regime — you need to oil you hair and scalp at least twice a week. Here are some quick to make and easy to use home remedies to treat split ends…

– Take and egg and mix it with a teaspoon of honey and a few drops pf olive oil. After mixing it thoroughly, apply the paste liberally on your hair (especially on your split ends) and let it stay for about 20 minutes. Wash it off with a gentle shampoo.

– Purchase a bottle of castor oil from your chemist and apply it on the tips of your hair. Remember, that castor is very thick, so you needn't go overboard with the quantity. Let it stay for about an hour and wash it off. – Take two avocados and mash them up thoroughly. Add a small amount of honey and make a smooth paste.
