NC Boycotts DDC meeting

Gorkha, March 7 – The Nepali Congress, Gorkha, has boycotted the meeting of the District Development Committee (DDC).
The NC, Gorkha, boycotted the meeting after a row over the chief guest in the last meeting of the DDC Council surfaced between the Nepali Congress and the UCPN (Maoist).
The NC said that Deputy Prime Minister and Minister for Local Development, Prakashman Singh, should be made the chief guest at the meeting while the UCPN (Maoist) is saying that former Prime Minister Dr. Baburam Bhattarai should be made the chief guest.
The meeting of the District Mechanism, which is scheduled to allocate budget on different topics under the development construction planned for the fiscal year 2014/15 under the DDC, was postponed after the NC boycotted it.
Allocation of budget related to the Ethnic Uplift and Development programme has been halted.
Local Development Officer Mahesh Baral said that the district will fail in the Minimum Conditions Fulfillment Standard if it failed to hold the DDC Council by March 14.
