PM Koirala off to Myanmar to attend BIMESTEC summit

Kathmandu, March 2 – Prime Minister Sushil Koirala has left here today for Myanmar heading the 15-member Nepali delegation to the Third Summit of Bay of Bengal Initiative for Multi-Sectoral Technical and Economic Cooperation (BIMSTEC).
Talking to media persons briefly at TIA before his departure, PM Koirala said his visit to Myanmar and Nepal's participation in the BIMSTEC Summit would be important and fruitful.
On the sidelines of the Summit, the PM is scheduled to have bilateral meeting and discussions with the Heads of State/Governments of South Asian Association for Regional Cooperation (SAARC) countries- India, Bangladesh, Bhutan and Sri –Lanka, ASEAN member Thailand and BIMSTEC countries and such meetings are expected to be an opportunity for Nepal for economic development and presenting its views on the issues of mutual benefits and common interests.
Deputy Prime Ministers Bamdev Gautam and Prakashman Singh, Constituent Assembly (CA) Chairman Subas Nembang, ministers, chiefs of diplomatic missions in Nepal and high-ranking government officials were at Tribhuvan International Airport (TIA) to bid farewell to the PM.
