Sherpa new president of Nepal mountaineering association

Kathmandu, Feb 23 – Ang Tsering Sherpa has been elected the new President of Nepal Mountaineering Association, the umbrella organization of mountain tourism entrepreneurs.

 

Sherpa won 473 votes in the election held for the post at its annual general meeting here on Friday. His nearest rival was Nima Norbu Sherpa who got 391 votes.

 

The 15-member new executive committee of the Association includes Santabir Lama (first Vice-president), Diwas Bikram Shah (second Vice-president), Thakur Raj Pandey (General Secretary), Rajendra Man Shrestha (Secretary) and Tikaram Gurung (Treasurer).

 

Likewise, Dr Hari Shrestha, Kamini L Sherpa, Dhan Bahadur Gurung, Tschurim Sherpa, Pasang Sherpa, Lakpa Sherpa, Da Dolze Sherpa, Pemba Dorje Sherpa and Dr Neema Namgyal Sherpa are member of the executive committee.

 

Upon election to the post of NMA president, Mr Sherpa said he would work ahead with the ooperation of all for mountain tourism development and promote mountain tourism in Nepal through an action plan at the international level.
