8 Kg gold bought for temple renovation

Gorkha, Feb 23 – The Manakamana Temple Renovation Committee has purchased eight kilograms of gold worth Rs 35,900,000 for the renovation of roof and steeple of the Manakamana temple.
The Department of the Archeology had allocated the budget for this purpose and another one kg gold will be required to complete the renovation, said Insan Thapamagar, the main priest of the temple.
The roof and steeple of the temple are gold plated.
As many as 14 kg gold is needed for complete gold plating of the roof and steeple of the temple but the steeple does not need to be plated now, said Sunita Devkota, Director at the Manakamana Area Development Committee.
According to Dinesh Joshi, Chairman at the Manakamana Area Development Committee, Rs 22,500,000 alone was collected through the offerings and donation by the worshipers.
