Marsyangdi hydel project cuts power production

Gorkha, Feb 21 – At a time when the country is facing severe power crisis, country´s one of the largest hydel projects, Marsyangdi Hydro Power Project based at Aabukhaireni-6 in Tanahu has reduced the power generation.
The project has cut the power production down to 42 megawatt from 69 megawatt, citing a low flow of water in the river.
According to Marsyangdi Hydro Power Centre Tripureshwor Purbe, power production from the project went down as water flow in the river receded.
Presently, only two units out of three are operational rotation-wise, Purbe said. However, power generation is as usual during the peak hours.
Electricity produced from the project is linked to national grid through substations at Balaju and Bharatpur.
