Golbazaar (Siraha), Feb. 12 – The Sagarmatha Chaudhary Eye Hospital based in Lahan, Siraha has so far provided with services to 2,591,572 eye patients during 31 years of its operation.
The information was shared at a function organized to mark the 31st years of the establishment of the hospital on Tuesday.
Hospital's Medical Superintendant Dr Leela Raj Puri informed that the surgical service was rendered to 821,044 eye patients during the period.
The hospital has been conducting several eye camps under its community eye health programme.
Hospital Management Committee Chairperson Rabindra Lal Chaudhary said the hospital is preparing to bring international surgical training centre into operation soon. He also pledged to set up decentralized water treatment system in the hospital.
The hospital has operated eye treatment centre in Rajbiraj, Siraha headquarters, Malangwa, Diktel, Gaighat, Michaiya and Katari and is set to expand services in remote and rural mountainous districts.
The hospital was established in 1983 with the assistance of Germany-based CBM International. A German doctor Albrecht Hening had initiated the hospital.
