13.3 per cent population infected from filariasis in Siraha

Golbazaar (Siraha), Feb 7 – Elephantiasis is found in 13.3 per cent of the population in Siraha district.
According to the District Health Office, Siraha, the number of people infected from filariasis is high in the district as compared to other districts in Tarai.
Chief at the District Health Office, Dr. Daya Shankar Lal Karna, said that medicine against filariasis would be administered to 569,352 people of the district to make the national policy and programme of eradicating the disease from Nepal by 2020 a success.
As many as 3,000 health workers and volunteers have been assigned for the same. The programme has been scheduled for February 8, 9 and 10, added Dr. Karna.
