APF begins surveillance at Darchula border

Darchula, Feb 5 – The Armed Police Force (APF) border Security Company, Darchula has begun a border patrol in a bid to combat the cross-border crimes.
According to company Chief DSP Dhan Bahadur Singh, the patrol is meant for strengthening border security by controlling illegal activities including smuggling of goods via border areas.
The APF body has deputed the border patrol for the first time at Dhap, Dattu and Uku VDCs since its establishment in the district. The APF personnel will leave no stone unturned and work round-the-clock to contain cross-border crimes, DSP Singh said.
Similarly, the APF has a plan of updating the border marker pillars at Tinkar, the tri-junction of Nepal, India and China within the next two months, he added. The APF body was established on January 21 at Khalanga, the district headquarters of Darchula, as per the cabinet decision.
It was established by taking personal land on lease and is running with 106 APF personnel despite the quotas for 160 personnel.
