Chidren in deplorable state at Sagarmatha Orphanage

Lahan, Jan 27 – Children under the custody of the Sagarmatha Orphanage Home at Lahan-4 in Siraha are in a sorry state with the arrest of their patron Rajdev Mahato on the charge of swindling.
The home has been providing shelter to 10 helpless children from 3 to 14 years of age. They were picked from different parts in the district.
Nutritious diet for the home kids has now become just an imagination as they are compelled to go to bed taking insufficient food. The home is unable to manage two square meals for them and the children are becoming weaker day by day. No donor agencies have approached the home yet for support, its secretary Sabitra Subedi said.
The District Child Welfare Board and the District Development Committee Siraha have provided Rs. 200,000 and Rs. 100,000 to the home, respectively.
One Chandani Basnet from Damak-13, Jhapa donated foods stuffs worth Rs. 30,000 to the poorly-running home, said its vice chairperson Mina Sinha. Similarly, we have received one quintal beaten rice and one quintal rice from the Lahan Municipality, she said.
The landlord is asking us to leave the house as we are not able to pay the rent for a year, she added.
