High price of iodized salt in Jajarkot

Jajarkot, Jan,21 – Though the government has targeted to reach out iodized salt across the country in cheaper price, locals in the district are compelled to pay exhorbitant rate for the daily essential good.

 

The Salt Trading Corporation District Office, the sole authorized distributor of the iodzied salt, had been distributing the packets to the general public at Rs 9 per packet while locals now are compelled to buy it at Rs 35 to 40 in local markets.

 

Artificial shortage of iyodized salt is looming large int he corporation depot due to black marketeering in cahoot with local shopkeepers , locals said.

 

The  iodized salt is  normally available in every local shops but is being sold at Rs. 35 to 40 tot he chagrin of local people.

 

The financial give and take between corporation and local traders has marred the distribution of salt packets to locals, said local consumers.

 

Normal price of  per packet of iodized salt is Rs. 15 while it is available in the government-subsidized rate of Rs 9 in the hilly districts.
