Prez Yadav urges leaders to form govt

Kathmandu, Jan 19 – President Dr Ram Baran Yadav has drawn the attention of the leaders of political parties to the need of reinstating the Interim Constitution to the status quo by immediately summoning the session of the Legislature-Parliament and having the constitutional and legislative steps taken in the past endorsed by the parliament.
The President has also called on the leaders of the major political parties to take the initiatives for constituting a government of people´s representatives at the earliest in the context of the Constituent Assembly/Legislature-Parliament already in place.
This is stated in a press communiqué issued by the Office of the President today. President Yadav had held a meeting with Nepali Congress president Sushil Koirala, CPN (UML) chairman Jhalanath Khanal and UCPN (Maoist) chairman Pushpa Kamal Dahal at the Rastrapati Bhawan, the presidential palace, this morning.
The President also suggested to the leaders of the political parties to give priority to experts who can contribute to drafting constitution, distinguished national figures who have contributed to the establishment and the institutionalization of the democratic republic and the people from the backward class, region and communities while nominating members of the Constituent Assembly as per the Interim Constitution of Nepal, 2007, the press communiqué states.
The communiqué states that President Yadav also told the party leaders in the meeting that the Nepali people took part in the election with great enthusiasm and expressed their verdict in favour of democracy, peace and a prosperous Nepal, and that it was the responsibility of the political parties to honour the people´s aspirations by guaranteeing a constitution and good governance.
