Youths join hands for tourism promotion

Kathmandu, Jan 14 – Local youths have joined hands to promote local tourism in Madichud area. Though the area has potential to promote it as a tourism hub, it has been in shadow in lack of publicity and infrastructure development, said local youths.

Local youths have come out to promote tourism initiating home stay arrangements for tourists. They have formed an infrastructure development committee to promote the area as a popular destination of tourists.

They have brought into operation the home stay coupled with family environment with the initial investment of Rs 1.2 million and that has helped attract tourists, said Bharat Khatri, vice chairman of the committee.

There are two home stays operated by individual professionals and seven other run at community level.

Tourists could take joy of trekking to Chisapani, Helambu and Nagarkot from here, it is learnt. Moreover, the scenic beauty of Kathmandu valley from the place is quite arresting.

Meanwhile, the locals have urged the Nepal Tourism Boards (NTB) to enlist the area as a new tourist destination.
