Magic of Insurance at Nepse

Kathmandu, Jan.11- Nepse index increased 14.45 points during previous week. It had closed 758.13 on Sunday, 5th January (the first trading day of the week) and reached 772.59 at the close of Thursday, 9th January (the last trading day of the week). The market floor was open for five days.

In the week, the ‘insurance’ sub-index boosted the highest by 103.53 points closing at 2141.46 points. That was followed by the hotel sector sub-index which increased by 27.73 points.

Similarly, banking sub-index increased by 11.90 points closing at 776.20. Hotel sub-index, 'others' sub-index, hydro-power sub-index, finance companies sub-index and development banks sub-index increased by 27.73 points, 12.92 points, 19.99 points, 2.82 points and 13.62 points respectively.  Among the nine sectors, manufacturing and processing sub-index and trading sub-index saw decline of 0.07 points and 2.96 points respectively the during the week.

Shares of 130 companies were traded at Nepse during the week through 11,776 transactions amounting to Rs644,220,000. The transaction amount is 13.36 percent higher than that of earlier week. The total number of scrips traded was 3,488,910 which is 866,993scrips more than that of earlier week.

The best performer this week among the traded scrips was Taragaon Regency Hotel (TRH), closed at Rs 219, with a gain of Rs 74 or 51.03 percent. Whereas, Nilgiri Bikas Bank Limited (NGBL), closed at Rs 156, was the worst performer among all with a decline of Rs 25 or 13.81 percent.

The scrip with the highest turnover was Citizens Bank International Limited Promoter Share (CZBILP), closed at 133, with 10,877 units worth Rs 158,339,825 which was carried out by 2 transactions.

Citizens Bank International (Promoter Shares) topped the list in terms of transaction amount (Rs 158,340,000). Nabil Balance Fund topped in number of scrips traded during the week. Altogether 334,344 scrips of the fund were traded during the week. At the same time, Agriculture Development Bank was at the top on the basis of the number of transactions (923).
