40 kilometres road reconstructed in Kathmandu

Kathmadnu, Jan 9 – The Department of Roads has so far reconstructed a total 40 kilometres of roads in the Kathmandu Valley in course of the ongoing road-widening works.
Secretary at the Ministry of Physical Infrastructure and Transport, Tulasi Prasad Sitaula, said that so far 40 kilometres out of the 105 kilometres of the road has been reconstructed.
He said an additional 52 kilometres road would be reconstructed within this fiscal year while the remaining 18 kilometres would be reconstructed within the fiscal year 2013/14.
Four different bodies under the Department – the Division Road Offices of Kathmandu, Lalitpur and Bhaktapur and the Kathmandu Valley Road Expansion Project – are carrying out the road widening works in Kathmandu.
Apart from these bodies, the Kathmandu Metropolitan City, the Lalitpur Sub-Metropolitan City and the Bhaktapur Municipality, Madhyapur Thimi Municipality and the Kirtipur Municipality are also carrying out the road widening works.
