Man nabbed for embezzling Rs 10m

Panchthar, Jan 3 – Police arrested a person on the charge of embezzling the amount allocated by the Ministry of Peace and Reconstruction.

The arrestee is Shantabir Angdambe, executive director at the Phattanlung Tea Producing Company.

He was accused of embezzling more than Rs. 10 million allocated by the Ministry in the name of share members of the Company, established in Mangjabung and Sarangdanda VDCs in Panchthar district.

Shantabir embezzled the amount by releasing the money after submitting documents in the name of shareholders of the company.

The share members at the recommendation of the local peace committee through the District Administration Office filed the petition at police office demanding return of the money released in the fiscal year 2012/13.

A total of Rs. 11.1 million was allocated in the names of 22 shareholders.

Police Inspector at the District Police Office, Panchthar said Shantabir was arrested on the basis of the complaint filed by the shareholders and investigation into the case was underway.
