Artificial petrol crisis hits Kathamandu Valley

Kathmandu, Jan 1 – Petrol pump inside Kathmandu valley is creating scarcity of petrol though Nepal Oil Corporation has been distributing the petroleum products in market in regular order.

 

Most of the petrol pumps do not give petrol saying they don’t have and rest of others open the pumps only in evening. This has created a petroleum crisis in the market.

  

One of the NOC officials said, pumps have been blaming NOC not distributing Petrol on Saturday and Monday due to Public holiday as a main reason for the shortage.

 

He also added that, pump owners, with the view to earn profit after its future price hike is making the petrol crisis these days.

 

The Kathmandu valley has a demand of 3 hundred to 350 kilolitres of petrol and 4 hundred to 450 kilolitre of Diesel each day. NOC had distributed 4 hundred and 75 kilolitres petrol and 6 hundred and 29 kilolitre diesel on Friday.

 

Likewise, on Sunday a total of 4 hundred and 96 kilolitres petrol and 6 hundred and 68 kilolitre of diesel was distributed. Due to the public holiday on Monday NOC hadn't supplied petroleum products. However, a total of 4 hundred and 66 kilolitre petrol and 6 hundred and 18 kilolitre Diesel was distributed on Tuesday.
