Nepse 8 Points Down

Kathmandu, Dec.29- Nepse index dropped by 8 points during previous week. It had closed 794.88 on Sunday, 22nd December (the first trading day of the week) and reached 787.07 at the close of Thursday, 26th December (the last trading day of the week). The market floor was open for four days. The market was closed on Wednesday due to public holiday.

In the week, the ‘insurance’ sub-index increased the highest by 93.37 points closing at 2138.27 points. That was followed by the manufacturing and processing sector sub-index which increased by 10.63points.

Similarly, the development bank sub-index also increased by 0.71 points closing at 436.47 points. There was no change in trading sub-index during the week.

Due to the selling pressure of shares of banks and financial institutions, the fluctuation in the Nepse is seen in just four days trading. Mainly, the bulk buying and selling of shares has highly affected in the market movement. The highest trading of shares amounting Rs 770 million took place in the first day of trading and the least amount of trading took place on second day of trading amounting Rs 460 million

All in all, the 140 companies were traded this week, out of which 68 gained, 4 remained intact and 68 companies lost.

The best performer this week among the traded scrips was Apex Development Bank Limited (APEX), closed at Rs 146, with a gain of Rs 36 or 32.72 percent. Whereas, Prabhu Bikas Bank Limited (PRBBL), closed at Rs 233, was the worst performer among all with a decline of Rs 52 or 18.25 percent.

The scrip with the highest turnover was Nepal Bank Limited (NBL), closed at 363, with 648,829 units worth Rs 234,171,678 which was carried out by 601 transactions.

Shares of 140 companies were traded at Nepse during the week through 14992 transactions amounting to Rs 272,310,000. 2,106,740,000. The transaction amount is 7.85 percent higher than that of earlier week. The total number of scrips traded was ,5373,500 which is 372,790 scrips less than that of earlier week.

Nepal Bank topped the list in terms of transaction amount (Rs 234,299,000). NB Bank topped in number of scrips traded during the week. Altogether 649,179 scrips of the bank were traded during the week. At the same time, Sana Kisan Bikas Bank was at the top on the basis of the number of transactions (1262).       

At the same time, 6,00,000 scrips bonds of Himalyan Bank Bond 2077 was listed during the week. 8,87,000 scrips right shares of Surya Life Insurance  and 4,50,000 scrips bonus shares of NLG Insurance were also listed at Nepse during the week.
