CIAA halts teacher interview

Kathmandu, Dec 27 – The Teachers´ Service Commission (TSC) has put on hold the interview of secondary level school teachers following the Commission for the Investigation of Abuse of Authority (CIAA)´s directives.
TSC was scheduled to take the interview of the applicants who passed the written selection exams conducted by it last month.
CIAA on Wednesday directed TSC to halt the interview process in response to a complaint that irregularities were committed in the announcement of the results of the written tests.
Under-Secretary at TSC, Narayan Bhattarai, said that the commission´s employees who were deputed to conduct the tests at different regional education directorates have started returning Kathmandu after the interview was postponed.
However, different teachers´ unions have demanded that TSC go ahead with the interview and only put on hold the interview of the regions where the alleged irregularities have reportedly taken place, rather than postponing the interview in all the regions.
