Schools close due to cold weather

Myagdi, Dec 20 – All the schools in Mustang district have been closed for two months with the growing cold.

 

The schools are closed for two months every year during the winter as the upper parts of the district witness continuous snowfall and an increase in cold.

 

All the schools running in 16 VDCs of the district have been closed for two months from December 16 for winter vacation, said Bhumiraj Gyawali of the District Education Office, Mustang.

 

Different schools, including Chhoser-based Divyadeep Secondary School, Lomangthan-based Rastriya Lower Secondary School, Saraswoti Primary School, Birendra Primary Schools, Janaprabhat Primary School, among others, in the district run classes in different areas in Pokhara during the winter vacation, according to the District Education office, Mustang.

 

Gyawali said that mobile schools used to be run in Pokhara every year during the same period as people of the three VDCs of the upper Mustang migrate to warmer places in the lowland soon after Dashain due to cold.

 

Currently 57 schools including two higher secondary schools and five secondary schools are in operation in Mustang.
