Salt shortage in Jajarkot
Jajarkot, Dec 16 – The district people are compelled to return empty handed from the district headquarters-based Salt Trading Depot after they did not get iodized salt.
Though around 1,700 quintals of iodized salt were allocated for the district, only 350 quintals have been supplied here during the initial period of this fiscal so that it has created an acute shortage, said Bharat Shrestha, Chief of the Salt Trading Depot.
The locals are facing several problems in lack of transport facility. ´We are even deprived of consuming salt´, complained Lila Rana, a local.
Even though the remote area people need to spend two full days to reach district headquarters, they are compelled to return home empty handed due to shortage of salt, said Janak Shahi, a local.
Though the Government of Nepal has been providing iodized salt to district people in subsidized rate, locals are facing tough time to get it in an easy manner.
