Paddy production rises by 10 percent in Tehrathum
Tehrathum, Dec 5 – Paddy production has increased in Tehrathum district this year with timely rainfall during the plantation season.
According to the District Agriculture Development Office, Paddy production has increased by 10 per cent this year in comparison to the last year.
Local farmers are happy with the increase of paddy production and price of the paddy has also hiked this year, it is learnt.
One muri paddy was sold at Rs. 2,000 last year and that has reached Rs 2,400 per muri this year, said local farmers. Though the production has increased, the cost for plantation has doubled for lack of fertilizer and workers during the plantation period which has created serious problems in agriculture sector in the locality, said a local farmer Raj Kumar Rasaili.
Paddy is planted in some 10,124 hectares of land in the district, said the District Agriculture Development Office.
