Campaign against VAW begins

Kathmandu, Nov 25 – A 16-day campaign against violence against women has begun from today.A rally was organised this morning where human rights organisations had participated.
The rally was started from the premises of National Women´s Commission, Bhadrakali, and concluded after reaching at Basantapur after going through Putalisadak, Padmakanya College and New Road.
On the occasion, member of the National Women´s Commission, Mohana Ansari, said that increased violence against women and failure to get justice by the victims have caused worries to those working in the sector of women rights at a time when the government was also committed for ending violence against women.
The 16-day campaign has been launched from November 25 to December 10 symbolically every year for the past 22 years across the world to adopt the concept that gender-based violence is violation of human rights.
