UCPN (Maoist) leader Bhattarai elected from Gorkha-1

Gorkha, Nov 22 – Unified CPN (Maoist) candidate Dr. Baburam Bhattarai has been elected the Constituent Assembly from Gorakha Constituency No. 1 with a huge number of votes. He secured 22 thousand 824 votes of the total 40 thousand 760 ballots cast from the constituency in the Constituent Assembly election held on November 19.
His closest rival Kiran Babu Shrestha of the Nepali Congress polled 8 thousand 971 votes.
Similarly, UCPN (Maoist) candidate Hit Raj Pandey has won the election in Gorakha Constituency No. 2 by securing 20 thousand 761 votes. His closest contender Rabikala Khanal of the Nepali Congress got 7 thousand 929 votes.
Counting of votes is in progress in Constituency No. 3 and UCPN (Maoist) candidate Chham Bahadur Tamu is leading the vote tally in this constituency. He has so far secured 5 thousand 286 votes followed by Hari Bahadur Ghale of the Nepali Congress with 3 thousand 784 votes and Krishna Bahadur Nepali of the UML with 2 thousand 194 votes.
