Tea processing factory established at cost of Rs 73 m in Jhapa
Jhapa, Sep 20 – The government and tea farmers have jointly invested Rs 73.5 million to establish a tea processing factory at Prithvinagar in Jhapa district. The factory is already in operation from October 17.
The government invested Rs 31 million and the remaining amount from the shares of 1,600 tea farmers for the factory, said Chairman of the Tea Agriculture Cooperatives, Prithvinagar, Narendra Chaulagain. It has been established in around one bighas of land at Prithvinagar-7.
The factory is being operated under the ownership of Agriculture Cooperatives, Prithvinagar, said Manager of the Cooperatives, Devi Koirala. “More than 2,000 tea farmers of Prithvinagar, Baniyani, Maheshpur and Baluwadi is getting service from it.”
Prior to this, the tea farmers had been facing tea processing problems due to lack of such factory in the areas. RSS
