Challenges galore in education sector: Minister Poudel
Kathmandu, Sep 7 – Education Minister Madhav Prasad Poudel has said that challenges exist in education sector despite many achievements in the field lately.
At an interaction program organized to mark the anniversary of Modern Kanya Multiple College in the capital on Saturday, Minister Poudel said that 34 per cent of illiterates aged 15 years and over proves that challenges exist in education sector despite achievements.
Minister Poudel said that those deprived from access to education are backward socially and culturally as well.
Minister Poudel also added that reform in the results of the school leaving certificate was needed.
On a separate context, Minister Poudel, who is also the government spokesperson, urged one and all not to cast doubt regarding the forthcoming Constituent Assembly (CA) election.
"Election is country´s common agenda. Necessary legal provision, allocation of budget, security system, parties´ registration, implementation of code of conduct, international community´s support and goodwill have been received for election. Election will hold in slated date," Poduel added.
On the occasion, Chairman of the College Management Committee Ram Prasad Dahal, Prof Gopi Krishna Sharma and college principal Sabin Pokhrel, among others, expressed their opinions.
During the program, former students of the college including actress Namrata Shrestha, air hostess Anjali Khanal and Anita Acharya were honored for their contribution to different fields in the society.
