Koshi Zonal Hospital resumes services

Biratnagar, August 27 – The Koshi Zonal Hospital, Biratnagar has resumed its services from today, after agitating doctors agreed to withdraw their protests and join work.
The problem arose with the death of pregnant Ajama Parbin from Laxmipur of Siraha four days ago. Kin of the deceased manhandled the hospital doctors accusing them of neglecting in her treatment. All services at the hospital except the emergency were halted for the past two days after all the doctors (38) resigned en masse on Sunday.
Agitating doctors agreed to return to work after the government expressed commitment to address their demands, according to Dr Umakant Jha. They were on agitation, demanding guarantee of security and deputation of additional doctors for maternity services.
