EC registers 162,813 new voters in seven days
Kathmandu, August 24 – The Election Commission (EC) has registered a total of 162,813 new voters in seven days from last Saturday to Friday, which was an extended deadline provided by the Commission following requests from various quarters.
This figure, however, is not the final one, as records from some districts are yet to be compiled by the Commission.
With this new figure, the total number of registered voters has reached around 12.5 million, who are eligible to cast their votes in the upcoming November 19 elections of the second Constituent Assembly.
From this time onward, Nepal is introducing voter ID cards with computer-based records and the photographs, a move expected to lower cases of election frauds and the number of fake voters
