Students padlock schools demanding textbooks
Rukum, August 16 – Students of the proposed Janakalyan Secondary School at Jhula VDC in Rukum district have locked out the school putting forth various demands saying they could not get textbooks even after the first terminal exam was held.
They locked the school demanding that the school should provide textbooks of optional subjects to students of Class 10, toilet should be brought into use, coaching classes should be run at minimum fees and sports materials should be provided.
Sabita Devkota, a student, said that they were compelled to lock out the school after the school did not show any interest to address their demands put forth 15 days ago.
Regular classes have been disrupted for the past two days due to the padlocking.
Guardians have been angered saying the school management committee and school administration did not pay any attention towards the issue even after regular classes were obstructed.
A guardian said that turning deaf ear towards the demands put forth by the students without addressing students´ demands was wrong attitude of the school administration and school management committee.
