Prez yadav talks with IEC chairman Regmi

Kathmadnu, August 13 – President Dr. Ram Baran Yadav and Chairman of the Interim Election Council (IEC), Khil Raj Regmi, had a meeting at the former´s Official Residence at Shital Niwas.

 

In the meeting this morning they held discussions on contemporary political issues, election, and initiatives taken by the government to bring the poll opposing political parties to the election process, among other issues.

 

President Dr. Yadav had put forth concern on the progress regarding the Constituent Assembly (CA) election, talks with the poll opposing political parties and other contemporary issues on the occasion.

 

IEC Chairman Regmi briefed the journalists about the meeting, saying "It is a regular meeting with the President and that discussions on different contemporary issues were held at the meeting."

 

The government is proceeding ahead with the talks process with the political parties dissatisfied with the election process to bring them on board the process. In this connection, it is holding talks with the 33-party front including the CPN-Maoist today.

 

With the election date approaching, the government has focused its attention toward making the election successful.

 

Moreover, the High Level Political Committee has decided to hold decisive talks with the parties disgruntled over the election process within August 16.

 

The committee is holding talks with the political front with Madhesi Janadhikar Forum Nepal chairman Upendra Yadav and the front with Sanghiya Samajbadi Party chairman Ashok Kumar Rai today.

 

The meeting between President and Chairman Regmi this morning comes in the wake of initiatives for talks and dialogue picking up momentum for creating election-friendly environment.
