Election wont be held if not at Nov 16: Nepal

Biratnagar, August 12 – CPN-UML senior leader Madhav Kumar Nepal has spoken of the need of holding the Constituent Assembly (CA) election on November 19 by any means for running the affairs of the State by an elected government.

 

Speaking in a news conference organised by the party´s publicity department here today, former Prime Minister Nepal said the present government headed by a sitting Chief Justice was constituted under compelling circumstances and it was imperative to hold the election for running the country under the leadership of the political parties.

 

He also declared that if the November 19 election does not take place, it will never take place. The former Prime Minister also said that the international community too was for holding the election on the designated date.

 

Stating that the demand for increasing the number of proportional seats and re-registration of voters list would be fulfilled for creating the ´election environment´, he opined that the 33 per cent women´s representation was adequate.

 

The UML senior leader called upon all the poll-opposing parties to help conduct the election rather than obstructing it. He added that talks are on with the CPN-Maoist led by Mohan Baidya and the talks would be conclusive. He also warned the UCPN (Maoist) leaders not to make statements inimical to the election.
