Curfew lifted from Siraha

Siraha, August 10 – Curfew was today lifted fromSiraha, the Siraha local administration has lifted a curfew clamped in Saraswar VDC of the district from 4 am on Saturday.

 

Earlier, the administration clamped 12-hour curfew in the VDC from 4:30 pm on Friday in view of the escalating violence as several houses were robbed and set on fire, while security personnel were caught between the warring sides.

 

The clash ensued after Hindu pilgrims visiting a Shiva temple in Saraswar VDC in Siraha district clashed with villagers yesterday after a group of village men allegedly harassed some female pilgrims.  More than 200 people, including 40 security personnel, were injured in the incident.
