HLPC meeting with poll opposing parties
Kathmandu, Aug 3 – In an attempt to bring the dissenting parties on election process, leaders of High Level Political Mechanism held separate meeting with the leaders of the poll opposing parties on Saturday.
UCPN (Maoist) Chairman Puspa Kamal Dahal today discussed with Sanghiya Samajbadi Party Chairman Ashok Rai and Nepali Congress President hosted meeting with CPN-Maoist Chairman Mohan Baidhya in his residence.
In response to Dahal's request to sit for dialogues and take part in elections, Rai said that his party would join the election process if its demands, including fixing the proportional ratio, were met.
similarly, Baidhya, during the dicussion with NC President koirala, said that the parties should defer the November 19 election and new consensus be forged among them by scrapping the previous ones. Sources said that Koirala ruled out the possibility of deferring the election date but hinted on agreement on the remaining issues.
"Including one and keeping out another party which have fought the people's war should not be done," Baidhya said NC President Koirala. "New agreement should be forged among the parties by deferring the November election," he added.
