Chainpur strike continues to second day

Sankhuwasabha, July 31 – Locals of Chainpur have called for continuing a market shutdown for the second day on Wednesday in protest against the statement by the Local Development Officer, Lila Adhikari.
The Struggle Committee, Chainpur has been enforcing a Chainpur shutdown since Tuesday in protest against what it called an ´objectionable´ statement made by the LDO Adhikari. Adhikari is accused of making a statement that the proposed Chainpur Municipality was not viable.
The banda organizers halted vehicular movement in Chainpur Bazaar on Tuesday as part of their protest and have called for a complete shutdown of market and transport services in Baneshwar, Siddhakali, Siddhapokhari and Chainpur VDC areas Wednesday.
