Gold smuggling rampant in Biratnagar

Biratnagar, July 28 – Rampant gold and silver smuggling to India is taking place from various entry points of Biratnagar under Nepal-India border.
The gold and silver smuggling groups have been using Biratnagar due to open border, police source said. Large scale gold and silver entrepreneurs have been using small gold traders to smuggle gold to India.
A group smuggled nine kg of gold and 22 kg of silver a few days ago to India, said a staff of the District Police Office. It is mysterious that on one hand, Nepal Rastra Bank (NRB) has not provided gold to gold dealers as per demand, and on the other, there is gold smuggling to India.
There is maximum demand for Nepali gold in India and Indian men and women come from India to buy gold ornaments in Biratnagar.
