Saptari makes Rs.640 million from mango

Kathmandu, July 28 – Construction Material Entrepreneurs´ Association in all three districts in the Kathmandu Valley has started protest saying that the government has failed to address their demands.

According to the Joint Struggle Committee of the Association, the protest was started with a view to raising the revenue worth tens of millions of rupees lost in the market, bringing uniformity in the market value, and protecting both traders and consumers, from being cheated.

The committee organized a press meet here today and informed that Cement Producers´ Association, Nepal Steel Rolling Mill Association had submitted a memorandum to the government demanding that VAT bills that include the fare of cement and iron rod managed.

We were forced to stage the protest after the government remained indifferent to our demands, said Kathmandu District Committee Chairman of the Association, Deepak Shrestha.

The nation has to bear a loss of Rs. 14 per sack of cement and 30 paisa per kg in iron rod as the cement industry and rod producers issued a VAT bill without including fair price, said chairman of Pashupati Construction Material Entrepreneurs´ Association, Sher Bahadur Tamang.
