Khanal aims to make UML first in polls
Kathmandu, July 22 – CPN-UML Chairman Jhala Nath Khanal has stressed the need of establishing his party as the first party in the upcoming second Constituent Assembly election to ensure the drafting of a new constitution.
Addressing a special programme organised by the Pushpa Lal Memorial Foundation on the occasion of 35th memorial day of founding general secretary of Nepal Communist Party Pushpa Lal Shrestha, here on Monday, UML Chairman Khanal said new constitution was not drafted due to the dominance of ultra-leftist thoughts in the previous Constituent Assembly.
Contribution of Pushpa Lal to Nepal's communist movement was unforgettable, he said, adding credit of achievements in the Nepali politics goes to his contribution.
Foundation Chairperson Madhav Kumar Nepal said Pushpa Lal whose focus on unity between leftist and democratic forces was equally relevant these days also.
He claimed only his party was able to take the leadership of Nepali communist movement. The ultra-leftist thoughts never could lead the nation, he added.
Foundation's Secretary Ganga Lal Tuladhar and Beduram Bhusal put their views about the contribution of Pushpa Lal in Nepali politics.
