Lawyers suggested CDC not to make changes in electoral constituencies

Kathmandu, July 04 – Lawyers have suggested the Constituencies Delineation Commission (cdc) not to make any significant change in the existing number and area of electoral constituencies.
At a programme organised by the Commission at New Baneshwor on Thursday, they suggested the Commission to continue the 205 electoral constituencies and make little changes on the remaining 35 constituencies.
Former Chief Secretary and advocate Tirthaman Shakya said that changes could be made only in the 35 electoral constituencies, that were increased earlier as per Article 63 (3) of the Interim Constitution 2007.
The lawyers also suggested not to reduce the number of constituencies except in Kavre district as population of the districts, where constituencies were added, has increased. Earlier, 35 electoral constituencies had been added in 25 districts.
