Tourists barred from visiting at Ilam
ILAM, June 28 – The Singhalila National Park here has barred tourists from visiting the park, citing breeding season of the red panda. The park is situated on the Nepal-India border.
The park authorities say that the ban will stay on for three months and this measure has been taken as the tourists´ activities and noise in the park could disturb the breeding of red pandas, a threatened species of wildlife.
The prohibition will be effective from June 15 to September 15. Tourists have been banned from traveling inside the park from Tumling of Ilam to Phalot of Panchthar district, said Pasang Temba Sherpa, the proprietor of the Sherpa Chalet Hotel at local Sandakpur.
