NAC to buy 2 aircrafts

Kathmandu, June 25 – Minister for Culture, Tourism and Civil Aviation Ram Kumar Shrestha has said that process to bring two aircrafts for the Nepal Airlines Corporation (NAC) on lease has been moved ahead.

 

Talking to a delegation of the Journalists' Association for Tourism (JAT) Nepal at his office today, Minister Shrestha said that the Civil Aviation Authority of Nepal has also started the process to buy an aircraft for the national carrier.

 

He informed journalists that the two new aircrafts will be brought within the next two years. He also shared that three grounded aircrafts will come into operation after the maintenance that is already begun.

 

An agreement has been reached under which the Employees Provident Fund would provide around Rs. 10 billion to NAC, with the government as the guarantor, to purchase the aircrafts.

 

Stating that appointment process for the Chief Executive Officer at the Nepal Tourism Board has stopped as the matter was under the consideration of the court, Minister Shrestha said that now the Acting Chief Executive Officer will be assigned to make the activities of the Board effective.
