Dahal calls on Chairman Regmi, appeals for relief distribution at earliest

KATHMANDU, June 21: Chairman of the Unified CPN (Maoist), Pushpa Kamal Dahal, has appealed Chairman of the Interim Election Council, Khil Raj Regmi, to arrange management for immediate relief distribution to the flood victims in Far-Western Development Region.

Chairman Dahal met IEC Chairman at the latter´s residence this morning and appreciated the government´s decision to declare the flood and landslide affected areas in the west as the troubled area keeping in view of loss of life and property and provide swift relief. He also urged the government to carry out the reconstruction of the flood hit area.

The government on Thursday decided to allocate Rs 500 million for the flood and landslide affected areas in the west, carry out the task of reconstruction and provide swift relief.

Chairman Dahal suggested that the government should provide Rs. 100,000 to the flood victim´s family immediately during their talk.

UCPN (Maoist) Chairman Dahal drew IEC Chairman Regmi´s attention over the complaints raised from various quarters that the Mahakali River in Darchula and others districts flooded as the Indian side opened the door of Dhauliganga Hydropower Project.

Dahal stressed the need on making holding talks with Indian government and find the fact in this regard and making further evaluations, reported UCPN (Maoist) Chairman Dahal´s personal aide Shiva Khakurel.
