Fishtail Air helicopter crashes in Humla

Kathmandu, June 19 – A Fishtail Air helicopter has met with an accident in remote Tumkot of Muchu VDC of Humla on Wednesday afternoon.

CEO of the Fishtail Air Suman Pandey told  that they have received information about the incident but it is not clear yet whether the chopper crashed or it was a force-landing.

It has been said that the chopper was involved in rescue operation in the flood and landslide affected areas in Humla.

It had taken off from Hilsa and was heading to the district headquarters Simikot.

Police Inspector Harisharan Bhatta told the Avenues Television from the district headquarters that six people, including the pilot, were on board the chopper.

Pilot is an Italian national, according to a Fishtail Air source.

Referring to a team of security personnel who reached close to the incident site, Bhatta said that the chopper has caught fire after the 4:45 pm incident and at least two persons were seen getting out to safety.

The police team, however, is on the other side of a river, he said.

Another helicopter has been called for rescue from Nepalgunj, according to Bhatta.
