4 killed in lightning

Birgunj,  June 17 –  Four people have died when lightning struck them in Parsa on Monday morning.

Two people died instantaneously while two others breathed their last while being rushed to the Narayani Sub-regional Hospital, Birgunj, the Area Police Office, Pokhariya stated. The lightning occurred at 8 a.m.

The lightning struck when they had been taking shelter in a shed in the fields after it started raining. The deceased are Manif Miyan and Gaya Mukhiya of Bairiya Birta. They died on the spot while Ram Babu Raut of Jhauwaguthi and Shambhu Raut Kurmi of Bairiya Birta who were seriously injured in the incident died on the way to hospital.

Durga Saha Kanu and another man who were seriously injured by lightning are receiving treatment in Birgunj, police said.
