CEC Uprety leaving for India to learn about EVM

Kathmandu, june 13 – Chief Election Commissioner Neel Kantha Uprety is leaving for India on Thursday. At a time when the Election Commission (EC) is engaged in hefty preparation for the upcoming Constituent Assembly election, Uprety is heading to India to learn more about Electronic Voting Machines (EVMs).
Uprety said he has learnt about an Indian company that has developed EVMs that can handle over 300 parties and during his trip he will try to learn whether those machines will be appropriate for Nepal.
Meanwhile, the EC has decided to carry out mock polls in 16 districts in the Mountain, Hill and Madhesh from June 16.
