Budget demand exceeds to Rs. 750 b

Kathmandu, June 10 – The demand of the budget for the next fiscal year 2013/14 has crossed over Rs. 750 billion against the ceiling of Rs. 506 billion.

As per the demand from the various ministries, the budget exceeded by 250 billion against the amount set by the government – Rs. 506 billion – for the next fiscal year, according to the Finance Ministry.

Addressing the meeting of secretaries among other government officials in the capital on Sunday, Finance Minister Shankar Koirala urged the secretaries and regional administrators to focus on the projects under their respective ministries.

The Finance Ministry has called the meeting after the budget allocation for the next fiscal year exceeded compared to the budget ceiling of the National Planning Commission (NPC).

Similarly, Koirala also urged them to suggest programmes that would boost economic activities and help achieve economic growth of 6 percent next fiscal year.
