Massive fire at buspark area destroys property worth millions

Dolakha, June 10 – A fire broke out from a house at the Bus Park area in the district headquarters Charikot on Sunday night and quickly spread to over half a dozen hotels and huts around, destroying goods and property worth over 16 million rupees.
The fire started at 11.45 p.m. on Sunday from the three-story building of Ramji Chaulagain and Lokraj Chaulagain at Bhimeshwar Municipality-10, police said. The police have estimated that the blaze damaged property worth over 16 million rupees and the damage has not been fully assessed yet.
The fire was brought under control at around quarter to two in the night through joint efforts of the army and police personnel and the locals. The explosion of seven cooking gas cylinders at a house in course of the fire made matters worse, it is stated.
No human casualties have been reported in the incident so far.
Meanwhile, the Bhimeshwar Municipality has no fire engine and firefighters and this is causing a burning problem in the district. Help has to be called for and fire engines brought from neighbouring districts of Ramechhap, Sindhupalchok and Kavrepalanchok whenever there is major incident of fire in the district.
