Bhoto Jatra being Marked in lalitpur

Kathmandu, June 7 – The Rato Machhindranath Jatra concluding ceremony is being celebrated in Nepal. The jatra will be concluded after the  display of a jewel-studded vest (Bhoto) to mass of devotees and revellers in Jawalakhel, Lalitpur.

 

The Bhoto will be displayed as per the tradition after the chariot is pulled to jawalakhel.

 

Rato Machhindranath is worshipped as the god of rain and harvest, and monthlong celebrations dedicated to him begin in the Kathmandu Valley just before monsoon and ends in Bhoto Jatra.

 

Continuning the culture, chief of Guthi Sansthan (Lalitpur) will display the bejewelled vest before a huge crowd in the presence of President Ram Baran Yadav, according to Guthi. The jatra eillbe concluded on today after devotees take the chariot to Bungmati of Lalitpur.
